MLK Day Debrief

Fellow MBA Owners, Mark your calendars for MLK Day 2008.  Tonight was a blast and all owners that didn't attend were missed but I must say that Don, Jim, Matt and I managed to have a great time together and oh by the way Kobe vs D. Wade game was pretty good as well.

Some monumental trades were discussed involving numerous top ten players (KG, LeBron, Amare, Gilbert and Yao to name a few) at dinner at the Palm over wine, steaks, creamed spinach and a Gigi salad (that oh by the way was the best salad that I have ever had).

At the game we did have the opportunity to speak with the most tenured person within the Lakers organization. The mailman for the Lakers was sitting next to us and has spent 44 years with the organization and has 5 NBA championship rings to show for his dedication.  He happened to have on his repeat ring on this night.  He happened to provide Jim with some very valuable insider information regarding Lamar Odom's injury (no swelling of ankle following injury) as well as what Lamar has been doing to stay in shape while his injury heals  He has been running and riding stationary bike.  It sounds like Lamar may be a buy low opportunity for some lucky MBA owner who can craft the right package for Jimmy to consider.

In honor of MLK,  I thought it would be a great idea to make MLK day the official holiday of the MBA and have it be the most revered of holidays for our league.    To honor what MLK stood for, I was thinking that we extend the Monday transaction deadline to midnight so that all owners would get a free look for one day at games before inputting their pool picks and deciding who to put on reserves.

We would all meet at The Palm for dinner and all start with a Gigi Salad.  What is interesting about the Gigi salad is that when it is pronounced phonetically it has significant meaning for those that have played basketball with me.  The Gigi is my code word for give and go notifying my teammate that is about to pass to me to immediately go to the basket after he gives me the ball for an easy layup.   And like in the DaVinci Code,  I think GiGi should become the official secret access code and password for the MBA should future MBA technology required voice activated passwords in order to protect our much wanted MBA league information and data.

Congratulations to all who picked up players today. It was by far the most active pool pickup days since this year's season began.

Vegas is only 37 days away. It looks like Don Dizon of Trojan team fame has secured us four tickets for the NBA All Star game that we will be attempting to swap for 6 tickets to the NBA three point and slam dunk contest on Saturday night.

And as this MLK day comes to an end, don't forget the great JFK saying which is so applicable to each of us as MBA team owners as we contemplate our next step down the path to glory and the hoisting up of the MBA Cup ( the most revered prize in all of Fantasy sports today)  - "Ask not what your players can do for you but what you can do for your players".

Farewell and Good Night!
